PROSTATE CANCER HISTORY IN THE FAMILY? GET CHECKED FOR BREAST CANCER
It has been researched and established that if there is a history of breast cancer in the family then the woman is susceptible to breast cancer herself. However a new research carried out by the team that includes Dr. Jennifer L Beebe-Dimmer has revealed that the same holds true if there is a history of prostate cancer as well. The findings of the research have been published in a journal, Cancer.
The study utilised the information collected by the Women’s Health Initiative Observational Study of about 78,171 women between the years 1993 and 1998. These women were followed until 2009 and among these 3,506 women developed cancer.
After assessing the questionnaires that were filled out by the participants and the reports, it was seen that woman who has a first-degree relative that has been affected by prostate cancer is 78% highly likely to develop breast cancer..
